Save Our Scooters

The Brussels regional government has decided to ban all shared e-scooters starting January 1, 2027.

Overnight, tens of thousands of regular scooter users across the city will be left with no viable alternative. None of us were even asked about this decision before it was made, so we need to tell the authorities what we think ourselves. This is our city too and we deserve to be heard.

What is happening?

In 2025 alone, 781,573 riders took 9.5 million trips on shared scooters in Brussels. The ban would wipe out that entire transport network overnight, without any public consultation.

Their argument is that scooters cause clutter and accidents. But the data shows the opposite: accident rates per kilometer have plummeted 20% since 2021, and new drop-zone enforcement is already clearing the pavements.

A blanket ban is a lazy solution. It punishes tens of thousands of daily commuters, shift workers, and students who rely on shared mobility to bridge the gaps in public transport. We demand smarter regulation that fixes the specific issues without destroying a vital transport network.
